The interim included a visit to Vegas, joining Tom’s mother (“they don’t have anything like this in Council Bluffs”), a week in Lake Tahoe with Bartels, a week in Washington with Bonnie and Luke, and a time in Minnesota. The stay was extended unexpectedly, but that gave us a chance to wear out our welcome, get used to hanging out with the kids, attend my NTCBC book group, and to get healthy and prepared for our change in plans. Instead of returning to South America, we somehow ended up deciding this might be a good time to walk the Camino de Santiago across northern Spain. As one friend noted, this would be a good idea, quick, before osteoporosis sets in.
